IB Marketeers Forum
Monday 29 March 2010, 21:52:47
On Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the first IB (Islamic Banking) Marketeers Club gathering was held and was attended by bankers from various Islamic Banks in Jakarta. IB Marketeers Club was founded with the vision to develop Islamic Banking in Indonesia.
Waizly Darwin as the Head of Marketeers, initiated the gathering with an opening speech that introduced the bankers to the Marketeers as well as Markplus, Inc.’s journey of 20 years from the first time it was founded.
The main session by Hermawan Kartajaya discusses New Wave Marketing. A few important notes that he pointed out are as follows:
- Invite Islamic Banks to be the best, by recruiting the best people in the field, not recruiting people who do not perform in conventional banks.
- Provide a point of view that Islamic Banks should implement coopetition in doing business, by providing a mindset that defines their main competitors are not fellow Islamic Banks, but conventional banks instead, where their Islamic Banking size are relatively small for now. Islamic Banking should be able to synergize to expand the Islamic Banking market first before focusing on the competition between Islamic Banks.
- Invite Islamic Banks to show their "character" and "authenticity" as "Islamic banking for all people" with a business principle that holds on to honesty, transparency and mutually beneficial for all parties involved.
- In the New Wave era of marketing, the 4C concept (Competitor, Customer, Company, Change) has transformed to 5C (Competitor, Company, Customer, Change Agents (ie. Blogger, journalists, opinion leader), Connector) in which every business should be able to act as a Connector to the other C4 factors.
- Provide an understanding that in the New Wave era of marketing, Islamic Banks has great potential in running a Community Marketing, and if done correctly, it could become a low budget - high impact marketing.
